Bozeman Actors Theatre's 'The Language Archive' to be performed Oct. 16-25 at MSU's Black Box Theatre
September 17, 2014
Members of the Bozeman Actors Theatre will perform “The Language Archive,” by Julia Cho, Oct. 16-25. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Montana State University’s Black Box Theater.
The theater is located in the Visual Communication Building at the corner of 11th and Grant streets on the MSU campus. Ample free parking is available in the lots adjacent to the theater.
“The Language Archive,” features company members Dee Dee Van Zyl, Cara Wilder, Dan Erickson and Tom Morris, all members of the Bozeman Actors Theatre, as is director Will Dickerson. Claire McGinty rounds out the cast, with sound design by company member Colter Langan.
Called “a quirky, but ravishingly well-written piece that is smart, funny, deep and tender,” “The Language Archive” tells the story of George, a linguist consumed with preserving and documenting the dying languages of far-flung cultures who, paradoxically, can’t seem to communicate with his own wife. At turns comical and poignant, the play is an eloquent, whimsical discourse on love.
Celebrating six seasons of presenting professional theatre locally and bolstered by the success of last year’s “August: Osage County,” Actors Theatre of Montana transformed into Bozeman Actors Theatre to take the company to a new level. It is now a nonprofit corporation with a goal of creating a permanent theatrical home in Bozeman.
There will be a special preview night gala fundraiser and reception on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Black Box Theater. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and wine and introductory remarks by local Yellowstone Public Radio personality Chrysti the Wordsmith. The preview audience will also enjoy a reception with the cast following the performance. Tickets for the Oct. 15 preview gala are $30.
Prices for performances Oct. 16–25 are $15 general admission and $10 for MSU students (plus a $1 handling fee). Tickets are available in advance at Cactus Records , www.cactusrecords.net and the First Interstate Bank in the MSU SUB on campus beginning Oct. 1. Tickets will also be sold at the door on performance nights, subject to availability. For more information, visit Bozeman Actors Theatre on Facebook, or call (406) 580-0374.
